Stilwell native David Cothren has worked for the City of Stilwell for 25 years, and was recognized by the Oklahoma Municipal League with a certificate and a pin, presented by Mayor Jean Ann Wright at the January City Council meeting.
In October it will be 26 years he’s worked for the City, Cothren said.
He started with the Street Department and now works at Adair Park.
“I mow, keep it clean and pick up trash here, and at D.B. Gaines and Carson Park,” he said. “I like that it’s peaceful here.”
Sometimes he takes fees from campers, but there is also a box for them to put it in, he said.
People who come to the park are usually pretty nice, he said. “Sometimes campers don’t want to leave, we have a two week limit,” he said.
Also, fishing is popular. “They catch nice bass out here,” Cothren said.
Cothren is the son of the late Bobby Cothren, who retired as a paramedic, and mom Debbie Cothren, who retired from EMS. He has six adopted children ages 8 - 16.
“Stilwell is a good place to raise children,” said Cothren.
Softball is his hobby.
“I like helping at Carson Park, too, especially with ball games,” he said.
David Cothren receives recognition by the Oklahoma Municipal League for 25 years of service, presented by Mayor Jean Ann Wright.
