In December, 2024, The City of Stilwell announced a new general manager of Stilwell Utilities, Brad Doublehead.

A native of Stilwell, Brad Doublehead has worked for Oklahoma Municipal Assurance Group the past 15 years. He brings professionalism developed from working in a state level organization, as well as more than a decade of contacts from assisting city governments statewide.

OMAG is a risk pool that provides insurance services to municipalities across Oklahoma. Doublehead started as an administrative assistant and within the first year made the transition to Claims Adjuster. When he left, he was the Claims Supervisor, which involved supervising other claims staff and their files as well as working his own.

Doublehead said he really enjoyed the job, which involved helping cities resolve insurance related issues.

“Working with municipalities to help them find solutions to their problems that stemmed from sustaining a loss was satisfying,” he said. “It was very rewarding to be the calm in the storm that helped reassure them we would work through it and find the best solution for them moving forward.”

Over his career he has worked with clients across the state.

“Another benefit of getting to work with multiple municipalities throughout the years is developing those relationships with a variety of municipal officials including mayors, city administrators, clerks, utility superintendents and staff,” he said.

Doublehead began his new position with Stilwell Utilities on December 2.

“I have always had a desire to serve others. This is a perfect opportunity to be able to serve others and work to better this community that I was born and raised in, and love,” said Doublehead.

He has been impressed by the staff at Stilwell Utilities.

“Our crew takes great pride in their jobs, and in providing utility services for our thriving community,” said Doublehead.

One reason Doublehead took the job is due to his strong desire to see Stilwell change and grow for the better.

“Complacency is the enemy of progress, and I want to encourage those around me to take ownership of making this a better place, not only for them, but for the generations to come,” he said.

Stilwell is a great place to call home and raise a family.

“It’s the ‘love your neighbor as yourself’ mentality that we have adhered to that makes this place great. Everyone is always looking out for

others and willing to lend a helping hand,” Doublehead said.

A Stilwell High School 2005 graduate, he proceeded to Northeastern State University to pursue a degree in Business Administration. He is married to Darylin, and they have two kids, Bennett and Adeline, who attend Stilwell Public School and are active in youth sports - soccer and basketball.

Golfing and hunting are Doublehead’s favorite hobbies. “On a Saturday morning, I am is most likely found at the golf course if it is warm, and in the woods if it is cold,” he said.

Something about him that not everyone knows is that he is left-handed.

Currently Doublehead is reading, “Together is Better,” by Simon Sinek, “It’s a good read because it provides a lot of insight as to how we can work together to achieve common goals, for the benefit of all involved.”
