Sales Tax

That’s because Oklahoma is the only state in the nation where cities receive zero property tax and depend almost entirely on sales tax for general operations.

By state law, municipalities may not charge a property tax. Public information on sales tax deposits is on the Oklahoma Tax Commission website.

That is why it is so important to shop in Stilwell. When you shop in other cities and towns you are investing in their police and fire services, helping repair their streets and maintaining their parks.

A fan of online shopping? Shop with online retailers that collect and remit sales tax. If they don’t charge sales tax, you report your use tax on your state income tax forms. When you make a purchase outside of the City of Stilwell, sales tax is paid on the point of delivery.
