Dumpster Use is Private not Public
In the City of Stilwell dumpsters are specifically assigned to businesses and residents within the City and are not for public use. Per Ordinance 410 the dumpsters are for the trash of the specific location they are assigned only. Violators of this ordinance can be fined more than $300 for the first offense.
A dumpster can be rented by a business or individual on a weekly basis. The cost is $100 to rent a dumpster for a week, and it can be dumped one time. Additional dumps can cost $25 each.
The City of Stilwell does not have “public use” dumpsters. Due to the cost of running the trash routes a “public use” dumpster is cost prohibitive for the City.
Items not permitted in the dumpster due to environmental concerns and weight are batteries, tires, concrete, paint, shingles, brick, block or ceramic tile, brush or tree trimmings, lumber, grease and motor oil. No more than half of the dumpster can consist of sheet rock. Do not overfill the dumpster. Any items of trash outside of the dumpster will not be picked up without making prior arrangements with the Street Department.
